I’ve invited Lakelan Fennell of Nilson Van & Storage to join me to share a few moving and storage tips.
Today I’m joined by Lakelan Fennell of Nilson Van & Storage to share a few quick tips to help make your next move as smooth as possible.
First, make sure the moving company you’re thinking of hiring is licensed and insured to move in your state. You also need to make sure they’re reputable—they need to be the kind of company who’ll come to your house and give you an estimate rather than give you one over the phone or online. This is why it helps to deal with a local company with a visible, brick-and-mortar warehouse and office.
The Better Business Bureau is a far more accurate gauge than sites like Yelp or Google reviews.
Next, explore your insurance options. There are different levels of coverage, ranging from basic liability coverage to full replacement value coverage. According to Lakelan, most people choose the latter.
You should also consider your storage options in case you need to store furniture between moves. What type of storage you should choose depends on what your needs are. If your needs are more long-term and you don’t need immediate access to what you plan on storing, Nilson Van & Storing is perfect for you. If you do need immediate access, you’re better off going with a mini-storage unit.
Lastly, when researching customer reviews to compare companies, remember that the Better Business Bureau is a far more accurate gauge than sites like Yelp or Google reviews.
