Many people assume the holiday season isn’t a good time to sell a home, but is that true? Not exactly—it all depends on your situation.
There are a couple of key benefits to selling during the fall and winter. Namely, there are still plenty of buyers out there. Statistics show that in the last three years, the months between October and December accounted for nearly a fourth of the total sales volume of that year in the Columbia area:
Don’t hold off on selling because you think there aren’t any buyers out there.

- 2017: 22.5%
- 2018: 22.5%
Life doesn’t stop happening from October to December, and that includes people needing to buy homes, so don’t hold off on selling because you think there aren’t any buyers out there.
Additionally, since so many sellers buy into the myth that the holiday season is a bad time to sell, that results in less competition for the sellers that do put their homes on the market. In other words, your home will stand out even more if you sell it now.
